Freeport Man Killed in Crash

A 23-year-old Freeport man was killed when he was involved in a motorcycle crash in Merrick on Sunday afternoon.

Nassau County police said Joel McClain was riding a Yamaha eastbound on Sunrise Highway when he was involved in a collision with a Lexus making a left turn onto Hewlett Avenue southbound at 4:42 p.m.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 68-year-old man driving the Lexus and his two female passengers were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Homicide Squad detectives impounded both vehicles but found no criminality.
