Bay Shore Crash Leaves Bicyclist Dead

A 54-year-old bicyclist was fatally hit by an SUV in his hometown of Bay Shore early Monday morning.

Suffolk County police said Edgar Cosico was traveling northbound on Fifth Avenue when he was hit from behind by a Jeep Cherokee at the corner of Dowsing Avenue at 5:30 a.m.

The victim was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead. The driver was not injured.

Third Squad detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information on the crash to call them at 631-854-8352.
