Port Artists’ Gathering

A group of Port Washington artists, a number of whom have won awards and received significant recognition, got together recently. They have been working together and independently in Port for more than 40 years. They began in Aida Whedon’s Printmaking Studio (138 Bayview Ave.) and have shown their work in museums and varied venues across the country and throughout the world. Many of the artists pictured here are now working on the Art Advisory Council at the Port Washington Public Library, where they have been volunteering for more than 40 years. There, they preview artists, curate shows and hang other artists’ work in the library gallery. These Port Washington artists continue to create their own very original authentic work. Some are members of the Graphic Eye Gallery (401 Main St.), Long Island’s oldest cooperative art gallery.
