A 44-year-old man was shot and killed in North Bay Shore over the weekend, Suffolk County police said.

Officers responding to a ShotSpotter activation found Marcelo Argueta Chicas, of Bay Shore, dead on Heckscher Avenue just south of Prospect Place at 12:06 a.m. Sunday, police said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide Squad detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information about this incident to call them at 631-852-6392 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS (8477). All calls will be kept confidential.
