Heroic Vigilant Members Honored

Dozens of members from the Great Neck Vigilant Engine & Hook & Ladders Company were honored by Town of North Hempstead officials at the 111th Annual Dinner Dance at the Fresh Meadow Country Club on Jan. 9.

Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Councilwomen Anna Kaplan and Lee Seeman presented certificates of recognition to department members in honor of their years of service, including Ludomir J. Czynski for 30 years and Chief Joshua Forst and Rodney Ashir for 20 years each.

More than two dozen department members were also recognized in honor of their role in the Call of the Year, which occurred on July 27 when a woman was pinned in her bed by a tree that fell through her roof.

Members of the Emergency Medical Services unit were also honored for providing treatment to a victim who fell on the railroad tracks through the gap on July 2, and for reviving a male in cardiac arrest on Sept. 5.
