Roslyn is not only home to the one of the top school districts in New York; it also has learning centers, such as Mathematics, to help young people broaden their horizons. Another learning center, this one with a foreign twist, is coming to Roslyn. School Masters, the brainchild of Ms. Marina Terentieva, a Russian trained linguist and educator.
Terentieva’s staff, officials said, includes teachers who are products of the elite Russian academic system. Still, the center comes with an American flavor.
“We are firm believers in the old adage, ‘all work and no play,” said Robert Amato, one of the learning center’s teachers.
School Masters, Amato added, offers courses in foreign language, math, science, creative writing and college preparation. From Sunday, April 24 to Friday, April 29, they will offering a spring camp, one where attending students will spend days in a stimulating academic environment.
In operation since 2008, School Masters has chosen Roslyn as their permanent residence.
“[Roslyn] is very, very convenient for our friends and the community,” said Terentieva. “Our children went to school in Roslyn. We like it there very much.”
In addition to offerings in math, science, art and music appreciation, School Masters offers foreign language training in both Russian and German, lego technology and college preparation and application courses.
“We are committed to our Roslyn venture and look forward to a continued collaboration,” Amato said.
The center is at 20 Roosevelt Rd. For more information, all 713-5468.
