Port’s very own Laura Mogul will be on Jeopardy on March 31 at 7 p.m. on Channel 7. Mogul is the executive director of Landmark on Main Street and has been an active community volunteer in Port Washington for many years. Mogul taped the show at Sony Studios in early February.

About the experience, Mogul said, “They’re extremely careful to maintain a fair competition, and the people who handle the contestants never see the actual questions,” said Mogul. “My husband did quiz me on a variety of popular topics in the weeks leading up to my taping. I watched the show every night, which I’ve been doing pretty much my whole life.”

Mogul continued, “They tape five shows a day and you get to warm up and practice, which also gives everyone a chance to check each other out. It’s a room full of trivia freaks. It reminded me of freshman orientation at Barnard—they asked how many of us were at the top of our high school classes, and we all raised our hands. So it’s a little intimidating.”

This isn’t the first time Mogul has been on the show. “This was my second time on Jeopardy,” she said. “Forty-three years ago I was on
the original show with Art Fleming.
I was 18 years old, and I was, at
the time, the youngest adult Jeopardy champion.”

Mogul tried out for the show three times before making it this time. Contestants sign an agreement to not divulge the outcome of the show so we’ll all have to tune in on March 31 to find out how she did.
