Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto announced that the town has taken on a new initiative, which will help streamline communication and action between various town departments and members of the town board. Through this new initiative, councilmembers Joseph D. Muscarella, Anthony D. Macagnone, Chris J. Coschignano, Joseph G. Pinto, Rebecca M. Alesia and Michele M. Johnson will each serve as liaisons between two town departments.
“This new initiative will better the lines of communication between department heads and the town board, which will result in increasing the board’s ability to assist all town departments with various actions,” said Venditto.
Councilmembers are assigned to the following departments: Muscarella to Parks and Human Resources; Macagnone to Public Works and Highway; Coschignano to Planning & Development and Public Safety; Pinto to Community & Youth Services and Comptroller; Alesia to Town Attorney and Economic Development and Johnson to Environmental Resources and General Services. Each board member is assigned to two departments, reflecting their areas of expertise and interest.
Macagnone, who spearheaded the initiative, stated that he believes the effort will help board members assist in supporting all levels of town government and each department’s operations.
“This helps give us as board members a more hands-on approach of the activity in all departments, allowing us to make more informed decisions with respect to their operations,” said Macagnone.
