A pedestrian was fatally hit by an SUV in Nesconset on Wednesday night.
Suffolk County police said the pedestrian was crossing Nesconset Highway at 9:10 p.m. when he was struck by a westbound Jeep Cherokee at the Browns Road intersection.
The victim was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity was not immediately available.
The driver was not injured. Fourth Squad detectives impounded his vehicle for a safety check and are continuing the investigation.
