On Thursday, May 5, the Manhasset Lacrosse Hall of Fame will hold its 28th Annual Golf Classic and Induction Dinner at the Plandome Country Club. Since the Hall of Fame was founded, 154 individuals have been inducted. This year we are proud to honor Mary Cuddihy ‘06, Liz Eggers ‘98, Chris Finn ‘04, Craig Vachris ‘87, Matt O’Kelly and Tom Adams.
The Hall of Fame was founded 28 years ago through the efforts of Harry Baugher, Bill Miller and Tom Raleigh. Their vision was to help promote, support and foster scholastic team lacrosse for male and female students in the Manhasset public schools. Their goal was to have a function that would bring the participants back together and acknowledge those outstanding players and non-players, who have contributed to the development of the lacrosse program, throughout its existence.
Public school budgets provide the majority of funding to the teams,
but they do not always cover all of the expenses for them. Annually,
the Hall of Fame covers these expenses from the generous contributions made by the community
at this event. It is because of this generosity over the last 27 years,
the Hall of Fame has been able to direct almost $825,000 to support
the boys and girls lacrosse teams.
Though the lacrosse teams are the major recipients, the Hall of Fame has also assisted in the funding of turf fields, lighting, safety netting, and other developmental projects that support the various sports at Manhasset High School.
Please join us on May 2 for a round of golf, dinner or both. Not only will you help recognize the efforts and accomplishments of each inductee, you can also renew old friendships, make new ones, share stories, and relax. For reservations contact MartyGately@martin.gately@yahoo.com or call 516-627-1278.
