World-renowned piano player Sam Rotman is coming to the Bible Church on May 16 at 7 p.m.

Rotman made his debut at the age of 16 with the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra before an audience of 6,000. Rotman received his bachelor’s and master’s in music from the Juilliard School. While a student, he was the recipient of nine awards in the form of grants, scholarships and prizes. Subsequently, he has been among the winners in five piano competitions, both in the U.S. and Europe. The most prestigious award he won was Laureate Winner in the 4th International Beethoven Competition in Vienna, Austria. In 1978, Rotman participated in the 6th International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow, Russia. He has given over 2,700 performances in 60 countries.
Rotman has devoted a specific area of his musical life to the study and performance of the works of Beethoven. Beginning with a series of all Beethoven concerts in 1970 (the Beethoven bicentennial), he was presented on Public Broadcast System (PBS) in a special Beethoven concert. Rotman continues to perform the works of Beethoven in recital and with orchestra.
Rotman has served on the jury of international piano competitions both in the U.S. and Europe. For almost 20 years he was director of the piano department and served as executive director of the D’Angelo School of Music at Mercyhurst College for 10 years.
