Hempstead Town Councilman Anthony D’Esposito (center) recently presented official Town of Hempstead Certificates of Recognition to Diane and John Graham, of Westbury, at a “wrap-up” luncheon for VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program volunteers and thanked them for their participation in the program for the past eight years. Through the town’s Department of Senior Enrichment, VITA volunteers are trained in the latest IRS regulations and assigned to local libraries and town senior centers throughout the tax season. The town’s VITA volunteers prepare federal and state income tax returns free of charge for seniors and residents with limited incomes.
