Bay Shore Crash Kills Husband, Wife

A woman and her husband were killed when the wife crashed their car into a tree in their hometown of Bay Shore on Tuesday afternoon.

Suffolk County police said Travis Hairston, 75, was driving a Mercury Grand Marquis northbound on Fifth Avenue when her vehicle left the roadway, crashed through a chain link fence and struck a tree at the corner of Hansen Street at 4:10 p.m.

The driver and her 81-year-old husband, Frank, were taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where they died of their injuries.

Third Squad detectives impounded the vehicle, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information about this crash to call them at 631-854-8352.
