Pineapple Ball 2016

While the weather may have been unseasonably cold, the hundreds of attendees inside at the 14th Annual Pineapple Ball were having too much of a great time to notice the blustery conditions outside. Held on Friday evening, May 6, at the Garden City Hotel, the village’s premier business and social event of the year found Chamber of Commerce members and guests gathered to bestow a number of honors throughout the evening. Sean Martens (SMPL Technologies, Inc.) received Citizen of the Year, Robert Kloepfer (Walk Street) was this year’s Businessperson of the Year and the Garden City Volunteer Fire Department were bestowed the Community Achievement Award. Garden City Police Department Detective Richard Pedone was the President’s Award recipient.

Additionally, Garden City High School senior Thomas Van Noy was recognized as the winner of the Althea Robinson Excellence in Business Education Scholarship, awarded by the Chamber of Commerce Foundation, which is the philanthropic arm of the chamber. Following the presentation to these remarkable individuals, guests danced the night away to the music of the renowned Alex Donner Orchestra. event co-chairs Jacqueline M. Goode and Andrée de la Garza-Walsh, along with their sub-committee co-chairs and respective committees, wound up staging yet another successful Pineapple Ball.
