Large crowds including community members, families, town officials and students had a great time on a sunny day at this year’s PortFest, enjoying the best of the arts and music that Port has to offer.PortFEst051816a Portfest051816B PortFest051816C

“The event looks to be a record-breaker in attendance and money raised for the arts in our community,” according to Stephanie Hall of HEARTS. “HEARTS is so proud to do this for our hometown. We love what we do and we can’t wait to use the money raised for new enrichment for the arts in our community.”

There were lots of great performances—including Curtains Up performing songs from Beauty and the Beast; Laffey Fine Home had a Chewbacca that did photo ops; Bach to Rock performed and had a color spin wheel to win prizes that included free lessons; Dave Diamond Band rocked with fantastic blues and jazz (Diamond is a local Sousa parent); the Art Tent had incredible demos of artists and very brisk sales of artwork; Larry Chrapliwy painted en plein air and donated his painting to the silent auction; the Schreiber Orchestra had 50 members and spilled off the stage onto the field; the school art and crafts tents were so busy there were lines of kids waiting to get in; Plant a Row had a wonderful activity with kids planting vegetables; and Olga’s flashmob and dance party was incredible.

The emcees of the event were Principals Chris Shields and Ira Pernick, among others. Local town officials that attended included Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth, Councilwoman Dina De Giorgio, Town Clerk Wayne Wink and Police Commissioner Dave Franklin, among Portfest051816D PortFEst051816E Portfest051816F PortFEst051816G Portfest051816H Portfest051816I Portfest051816J Portfest051816Kothers.
