The Plainedge School District Board of Education received and accepted a rebate check from PSEG Long Island for its participation in the Commercial Efficiency Program.
As a result of upgrading more than 5,000 fluorescent lighting fixtures and incandescent bulbs districtwide to more energy-efficient equipment, the district was entitled to the rebate, amounting to $180,000. These measures are part of the district’s energy performance contract with Johnson Controls, which is reducing the Plainedge Public Schools’ energy costs by an estimated $90,000 per year.
