Fourth-graders from Guggenheim Elementary School in Port Washington recently welcomed Officer Casey Wall from the Sands Point Police Department, who gave an anti-smoking presentation as part of the school’s health curriculum.

Guggenheim students received valuable information about the detrimental effects of smoking, learned about the importance of making smart and healthy choices, and overall, thoroughly enjoyed the presentation. Officer Wall’s visit was also timely, as May 31 has been dedicated World No Tobacco Day by the World Health Organization.

The day encourages nongovernmental organizations and governments to organize awareness activities including advertising campaigns, public demonstrations and temporary smoking bans in places where tobacco use is not normally prohibited.
