Farewell Performance For Susan Deaver

Susan_051216AConducted by Susan Deaver, who is celebrating her 25th year as music director and conductor, the North Shore Symphony Orchestra (NSSO) will present Brahms’ Academic Overture, followed by Respighi’s Ancient Airs and Dances, Suite No. 1 and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, Op. 35 at its Saturday, June 4, concert at Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK High School at 8 p.m. Ginastera’s Danza Finale (Malambo) from Estancia concludes the program. General admission tickets are $15 and senior/student tickets are $12 and may be purchased at the door 30 minutes prior to the concert.
For the past quarter century, Susan Deaver has successfully established NSSO as one of Long Island’s foremost community orchestras. Deaver has also conducted in Scotland, England, Spain and Germany, where she was selected to conduct at the 2006 International Master Class in Orchestral Conducting. In Korea she guest conducted the Pusan Festival Orchestra and the Masan City Symphony Orchestra. Deaver was the conducting instructor for actor Freddie Highmore for Warner Brothers’ movie August Rush, which was released in late November 2007. Deaver is on the music faculty of Stony Brook University, LIU Post and the Manhattan School of Music’s Precollege Division as both flutist and chamber music coach.
