Residents eager to enjoy the Town of Oyster Bay’s beautiful beaches at Tobay, Centre Island, Philip B. Healey at Florence Avenue and Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park will be pleased to learn that these Town beaches will be opening for weekends and holidays beginning Saturday, May 28, according to town councilman Joseph G. Pinto.
“I am happy to announce that four Town beaches will be open on weekends and holidays for residents to enjoy beginning May 28,” said Pinto. “From Saturday, June 25 onwards, all town beaches will be open for the season seven days a week and will close on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5.”
The early sale of beach stickers will continue to be available weekdays through Friday, June 24 only at Tobay Beach (from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.), John J. Burns Town Park (from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 2:30 p.m.) and Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park (from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.). Beginning on June 25, beach stickers will be available during normal operating hours.
Pinto also said that beach stickers, which allow entrance to all seven Town of Oyster Bay beaches, will be available to residents at the affordable cost of $60 for the season and $20 for daily stickers. In appreciation for their service, town residents who are military veterans or active military members, volunteer firefighters of a department within the town, auxiliary police and members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary will get a reduced rate of $30. Senior citizens, 60 and older, who have a town Senior Citizen Beach I.D. Card, obtainable at the town clerk’s Office for a one-time fee of $30 plus a $2 photo fee, will be able to obtain a beach sticker at no charge. Disabled town residents who are receiving disability insurance benefits under the Social Security Act, as well as those who have a permanent disability as certified in writing by a physician, can obtain a free beach sticker after first securing an I.D. card at the town clerk’s Office for a one-time fee of $30 plus a $2 photo fee.
“The summer is here and once more, I am excited for residents to enjoy beautiful sunny afternoons at the Town’s spectacular beaches,” added Pinto. “It’s conveniences like these that truly make the Town of Oyster Bay a wonderful place to live.”
