Shirley Woman Fatally Hit by Truck

A 76-year-old woman was fatally hit by a truck while she was crossing a road in her hometown of Shirley.

Suffolk County police said Margrit Friedrichs was walking across William Floyd Parkway when she was struck by a Dodge Ram that was making a right turn at the corner of Roberts Road at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday, May 31.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was not injured.

Seventh Squad detectives impounded the truck, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone who witnessed the crash to call them at 631-852-8752.
