The Jericho Middle School sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade bands presented their spring concert on May 24. This was their first official concert in the completely renovated Jericho Middle School/High School auditorium, taking full advantage of the new advanced lighting and sound system among other enhancements.
Following a welcome and introduction by Principal Dr. Don Gately, the sixth-grade band took the stage led by their director Wayne Schuster. The sixth-graders impressed the audience with a song made famous from the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey, originally composed by Richard Strauss. Both the seventh- and eighth-grade bands were directed by Evangeline Bellon and included two guest conductors: Crane School of Music student teacher Joe Connors and eighth-grade band member Matthew Lecher each conducted a song for the seventh- and eighth-grades, respectively. Students who participated in NYSSMA and All-County band received recognition on stage that night as well.
