Bay Shore Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash

A 48-year-old man was killed when he crashed his motorcycle on the Southern State Parkway in his hometown of Bay Shore on Wednesday morning.

New York State police said Philip Hittel was riding a Harley Davidson on the Bay Shore Road entrance ramp to the westbound side of the parkway, when he rear-ended a Chevrolet Malibu at 8:15 a.m.

Hittel, who was ejected from his motorcycle, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, where he died from his injuries shortly later.

Police are continuing the investigation, and ask any witnesses to call them at 631-756-3300.
