In a final between two Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) teams, the Plainedge Power shut out the Terryville Rowdies, 5-0, to capture the Girls-Under-10 Arch Capital Group Cup. This Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) championship game was played at the Peter Collins Soccer Park in Plainview on June 11.
Reagan Morra had a three-goal hat trick and Sophia Cataldo added two goals. They were assisted by Juliet Maiello (2 assists), Lucy Younghans (2 assists) and Jackie Morra (1 assist).
“Goalie Jackie Morra had an amazing save in the first half when the score was just 1-0. That definitely kept the momentum going for our girls,” said Plainedge coach Jack Younghans. “Terryville played us tough at the start of the game. Once our girls started working together as a team, we were able to pull ahead. We had some solid defense from Samantha Domnisch, Kayla Eng, Jadyn Hagerstrom, Sienna Petruccelli and Kiera Reed, and our offense, including Jordan Bianchi and Mia Battaglia, kept the pressure on.”
