It was an excellent school year for one hardworking local charity, thanks in large part to the dedication of an assorted group of Roslyn High School students, including those on both the junior varsity and varsity tennis squads.
In separate efforts, these young men and women raised almost $8,000 to benefit Go With Courage and its new children’s program, “We’ve Got Your Back,” serving local families affected by cancer. In addition, many of these students earned community service credit for their involvement in Go With Courage social events, outside of school, which raised more than $100,000 for cancer research and family assistance since September.
Highlights of the fundraising included:
• Evan Jaslow, a sophomore at Roslyn High School, led a team of students to help Go With Courage win first place at the spring Lord & Taylor Shop Smart Do Good Event, raising $5,000
• Roslyn High School’s Youth Against Cancer Club’s chocolate sale raised more than $1,500 for Go With Courage
• Roslyn High School tennis teams raised breast cancer awareness
and $1,000 for Go With Courage at a Pink Tennis Tournament in
the fall and a late-night spring bike-a-thon
