Dear Ms. McGowan:
We obviously all hope that there will never be a serious incident at the Manhasset Valley Railroad Bridge, but if events come to pass that cause such a loss, your letter will be posted, along with Governor Cuomo’s non-response, to my warning of this very serious problem.
Notwithstanding all of the smoke and mirrors that is included in your letter, you have not addressed the terrorist or accidental damage issue, which is probably the number-one concern, and your description of the rust and corrosion as “minor” belies comprehension from anyone who has actually visited the site. Do you ever, in fact, leave your desk and visit possible problem sites? If you haven’t up until now, I recommend a visit in the immediate future.
There is nothing in your letter that gives me any solace that my concerns have been properly addressed.
