Massapequa Appoints Five Administrators

Deja Berry

The Massapequa School District Board of Education appointed five administrators earlier this month. Three of the appointees are moving from other positions within the district.

Deja Berry has been named the executive assistant to the principal at the main campus of Massapequa High School. She previously worked at Berner Middle School, where she was most recently the interim curriculum associate of mathematics. Berry began her teaching career in 1996 and came to Massapequa in 2011.

Barbara Lowell

Barbara Lowell, a Massapequa native, will serve as the executive assistant to the principal at Berner Middle School, a position she has held on an interim basis since December. She began her career in Massapequa as a social studies teacher at Berner in 1999, and later became the dean of students.

Kenneth Wing becomes the new dean of students at Massapequa High School. He graduated from Berner when it was a high school and later worked there as a middle school math teacher. The 25-year veteran in education most recently taught math and served as the part-time attendance officer at the Ames campus.

New to the district are Michael Gargiulo and Patricia Quinn-Hendry. Gargiulo will serve as the assistant to the superintendent for human resources and general administration. He previously worked at Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES, Southern Westchester BOCES and most recently at Nassau BOCES. Quinn-Hendry was appointed assistant principal of Unqua Elementary School. She joins Massapequa from the New York City School District, where she was the assistant principal of P.S. 29 in College Point, Queens.
