Homemakers’ Council

Social Dance Matinee

Mastering The Transition
The Eyes of Learning, a nonprofit metaphysical learning and teaching group, meets monthly and holds programs at Levittown Hall, 201 Levittown Parkway, Hicksville. At 8 p.m., there will be a lecture/workshop titled “Mastering The Transition, The Practicality of Moving Toward Enlightenment,” with Diana Vitantonio. Genealogy Group
The German Genealogy Group will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the Hicksville VFW Hall—Post 3211, 320 South Broadway (Route 107), Hicksville. The program this month is entitled, “Hidden Inheritance,” with presenter Heidi Neumark, who discovered her hidden Jewish heritage. Neumark will take attendees on her journey as she finds out about her roots in Germany, the Czech Republic, Brazil and some newly found cousins in Los Angeles. An orientation session for beginners and newcomers will be held at 7 p.m. and the regular meeting will start at 7:30 p.m. Among the many benefits of membership are a newsletter published ten times a year, a database of surnames, a book and CD lending library, interesting guest speakers at the meetings, mentoring, a start-up kit of helpful information and much more. Family Festival
Holy Trinity Orthodox Church at 369 Green Ave., East Meadow will host its annual festival, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will feature the Greek and Slavic café, live Slavic music by “Barynya” (performing from noon to 3 p.m.), raffle auction, big bouncy castle and kids’ games, flea market, vendors and 50/50 raffle.
