Recent graduates of the Massapequa School District’s six elementary schools will come together for the first time upon the beginning of the school year as they enter seventh grade at Alfred G. Berner Middle School.
The 559 incoming seventh-graders were invited to tour the schedule days on Aug. 26 and Aug. 29. With copies of their schedules and building maps in hand, they were able to walk through the building and learn where all their classes will be. Some students toured the school with friends, while others were joined by a parent or older sibling.
Principal Jason Esposito, executive assistants to the principal Theresa Donohue and Barbara Lowell, dean Beth Mullins and faculty and staff were also on hand to help guide students. Across from the main office, students stopped at the club info bulletin board to learn about all the different extracurricular activities that the school has to offer. Near the auditorium, they received the combination locks for their hall lockers.
Esposito said he welcomes all of the new students.
“We’re certainly grateful that our seventh-graders and their families came to take this tour,” he said. “Everyone on our staff is here to support them and make them successful. We’re looking forward to a great school year.”
