A 63-year-old man has died after his boat capsized in the Jones Beach Inlet on Friday afternoon, authorities said.

Two boaters contacted Nassau County police after finding the victim floating in the water and pulling him aboard at 2:15 p.m., police said.

Marine Bureau officers, Town of Hempstead bay constables and the U.S. Coast Guard responded. They performed CPR on the victim, who was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Freeport Fire Department divers verified that no other people were trapped under the boat, police reported.

The boat was towed to Coast Guard Station Jones Beach. The victim’s name was not immediately released.
