Christ Church will host the first day of Church School on Sunday, Sept. 18. The Sunday school for pre-K through ninth grade starts at 9:30 a.m. in our newly renovated Parish House, 1351 Northern Blvd. Worship services begin at 10 a.m., and at 10:30 a.m., the students will join their parents in the church service. Following the service, our annual Ice Cream Sundae Sunday hospitality will occur in the churchyard, weather permitting. The Ice Cream Sundae social will be jointly held with our neighbor, the Community Reformed Church.
This year there will be a Bible-based curriculum. Sunday school will take place in our new classrooms, with up-to-date technology available for the coursework.
On the fourth Sunday of the month, donations of food for the Food Bank and for the Family Promise Program, serving homeless families in Nassau County, will be collected.
Father David Sibley, rector of Christ Church, stated, “Our youth are the vibrant future of our spiritual community, and with this Church School schedule, we are encouraging their full participation in the life of the church.” Heather Bennett, Christ Church director of the Sunday School, said, “Our Church School is very active in educating our children about the Bible, the church calendar and its background and meaning, as well as the Anglican traditions.” For more information, contact the church office at 516-627-2184.
