It is with great pleasure and passion for the environment, as well as the Great Neck community, that I urge you to go out and vote for Patty Katz on Dec. 13 for Commissioner of the Great Neck Water Pollution Control District (GNWPCD). As the former chief sustainability officer of The Town of North Hempstead and a former 30-year Great Neck resident, I can think of no one in the community who has worked harder to preserve and protect water quality.
When Governor Cuomo was considering fracking in New York State, Patty Katz joined Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel and myself on a trip to Dimock, PA, to witness first-hand the effects of hydrofracking on water contamination.
Patty has been a member of the Town of North Hempstead Ecological Commission for the past six years as well as the Environmental Legacy Fund, working on initiatives to protect the environment and open space. Not to mention her visits with me to a recycling facility in Brookhaven, chairing the Environmental Committee for Reach Out America and raising money to build a well in Kenya, providing access to clean, safe water to the local water crisis. All as a dedicated volunteer.
The Great Neck Water Pollution Control District is fortunate to have the opportunity to have Patty Katz available to serve as commissioner. I ask you to please go out and vote for her at either Great Neck House on Arrandale Avenue or Great Neck Social Center on Grace Avenue on Tuesday, Dec. 13.
