A Babylon woman was arrested for drunken driving after she crashed her car into a Nassau County police cruiser in Hicksville early Sunday morning, authorities said.

Sandy Lally McDonald was charged with driving while intoxicated, assault, driving without insurance, and failure to exercise due care to avoid colliding with an emergency vehicle.

Police said the 31-year-old woman was driving her Fiat when she crashed into the back of a police car, which had its lights and sirens activated, at the corner of James Street and Newbridge Road at 2 a.m.

The officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries to his neck, shoulders and back. McDonald, who was not injured, failed sobriety tests, police said.

She will be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
