Long Island Sport Center (LISC) is hosting the first Table Tennis Team Tournament on March 5 from 1 to 6 p.m. All table tennis enthusiasts are welcome to participate in this team tournament. There must be a minimum of 10 teams with three players per team. The maximum rating per team cannot exceed 5,000 points. Each team is welcome to choose their own players. Entry fee is $50 per player. Registration deadline is Friday, March 3. To register, email longislandsportscenter@gmail.com with your team player names.
For spectators, viewing of the tournament is free to the public. LISC highly encourages all students, families, seniors, teachers, and schools to head to the tournament venue on March 5 to view the event live. The LISC hosting this event has great spectator viewing areas and seats hundreds of people.
Table Tennis is an Olympic Sport with five events: men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. Table tennis is now among the varsity sports in New York City Public Schools. More than 30,000 students from over 200 schools participate and compete in the league. In Long Island schools, table tennis has been very popular and is increasing in popularity in recent years.
