Robert Pomara of New Hyde Park recently received his rank of Eagle Scout. His Eagle project was to renovate the religious education room at St. Hedwig’s church in Floral Park. Pomara and members of his troop repainted the 48 x 78 room, reattached all the floor moldings and reorganized the 8 classrooms. This allowed both the staff and students to return to the new school year in a more organized and fitting environment.
The rank of the Eagle Scout is the highest achievement for the Boy Scouts of America. Pomara is a member of Troop 294 of Elmont. During his years of service he completed 38 merit badges and four religious awards. He is a member of the Order of Arrow and has put in countless hours of community service. He could not have done it without the direction and support of his Scout Master Anthony Maffea and the entire troop of 294. Everyone is extremely proud of his hard work, dedication and perseverance.
