Pictured at the recent Floral Park Historical Society (FPHS) program meeting are (from left) Floral Park Village Historian Walter Gosden, FPHS President Ann Corbett, Floral Park Village Trustee Dr. Lynn Pombonyo and Floral Park Masonic Lodge Past Master Al Cortezo. Corbett is shown holding the ceremonial trowel used to lay the corner stone of the Masonic Temple in May 1924. The program was a retrospective of the history of the Temple and the Masonic Lodge: “Floral Park’s Iconic Building: The Masonic Temple.” The presentation was followed by Cortezo, a past master of Floral Park Masonic Lodge and Floral Park resident, who gave an overview of Masonry and the charitable and other activities of the fraternal organization. Pombonyo gave an update on the status of the former Masonic Temple located at Carnation and Tulip Avenues, known today as Floral Park Centennial Hall.
