A 55-year-old woman was fatally hit by a car while walking with her 16-year-old daughter in their hometown of Lindenhurst on Mother’s Day.

Suffolk County police said Diane Aluska and her daughter, Jenna, were walking on the sidewalk on South Wellwood Avenue when they were struck by a Toyota Corolla that was backing out of a parking spot at 9:10 a.m. Sunday.

Diane was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where she was pronounced dead. Jenna Aluska and the driver taken to the same hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

First Squad detectives impounded the car, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information on this crash to call them at 631-854-8152.
