Two accused drug dealers were arrested after allegedly selling heroin to a 27-year-old person who overdosed on the drug and died in Glen Cove on Tuesday, police said.
Eveen Cullum, 26, of Glen Cove, and 25-year-old Chelsea Prendergast of Glen Head were each charged with criminal sale and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Cullum was also charged with resisting arrest and traffic violations.
“Today’s tragedy highlights the need for everyone to be hyper-vigilant in the fight against heroin addiction,” said Glen Cove City Police Chief William Whitton.
Police said they made the arrests two hours after they responded to a probable fatal heroin overdose on Fairmont Avenue at 7:24 p.m. Authorities did not release the name of the victim.
Cullum and Prendergast will be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
