A 51-year-old man was killed when he crashed his car in Merrick on Monday morning.

Nassau County police said the man was driving a Toyota Corolla eastbound on Jerusalem Avenue, when he sideswiped a Jeep Liberty and both vehicles crashed into a pole near the corner of North Jerusalem Road at 7:23 a.m.

The victim was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a half hour later. His identity was not immediately available.

The other driver and her passenger was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
