Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care is hosting a grand opening of its newest center in Riverhead on Friday, making it the 18th such facility the company has opened on Long Island, officials said.

The center, which is the first Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care on the North Fork, offers a variety of services to patients, including treatment for colds, flu, minor skin lacerations and sports injuries as well as x-ray and lab services.

“We’re extremely excited about our presence in the Riverhead community,” said Adam Boll, vice president of Northwell Ventures Operations at Northwell Health. “The key is walk-in access to immediate medical care without an appointment for unpredictable illnesses or injuries.”

Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care now operates 36 neighborhood centers throughout the New York City area. It also recently opened a facility in Hampton Bays and has another planned for Bridgehampton.

Northwell Health, which changed its name in 2015 from North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health Care System, is the largest private employer in New York State and the 14th largest health system nationwide. It expanded its presence on the East End last year when it merged with Peconic Bay Medical Center.

The urgent care centers, which Northwell Health boasts as the fastest-growing on LI, are designed to treat minor or moderate injuries or illnesses. They are in network with most major insurance plans.

Since the facilities are owned by Northwell Health, it allows for seamless integration the health care system’s innovative electronic medical record system that can be accessed by caregivers across Northwell Health.

The high-tech facilities are also customer friendly, allowing patients to pre-register from their mobile devices, sign in electronically upon arrival and access their clinical data, including test results, in real time through an online portal.

The new Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care facility is located at 1842 Old Country Rd. in Riverhead. The center will be open 365 days a year, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For more information, visit gohealthuc.com
