It is with heavy hearts that the Great Neck Library family members mourn the passing of their dear friend and colleague Jonathan Aubrey on Monday, July 24.

Great Neck native and resident Jon Aubrey began his library career at the Great Neck Library in 1999 when he was hired as a clerk, and worked in the circulation department. He attained his Master of Library Science degree and became a beloved reference librarian in 2002.

Jon brings so many fond memories to mind and heart. He had a passion for and devotion to the Great Neck Library History Collection on which he spent countless hours.

He was proud to represent the library each year at the annual street fair in town. Jon was instrumental in preparing the library’s art collection for storage prior to the building renovation. He also enjoyed planning programming and bringing famous authors to the library.

On many occasions, Jon would make baked goods for all the staff to enjoy. He was past president and a strong member of the Staff Association, and fought hard for fair and equitable labor practices.

A kind and gentle soul, the library family will greatly miss and remember Jon with much love.
