More than 400 children, teens and adult volunteers from local schools and synagogues filled more than 3,500 backpacks with back-to-school supplies for low-income children throughout Long Island during UJA-Federation of New York’s 16th annual Supplies for Success event at the Solomon Schechter School of Long Island in Williston Park.
This year, UJA estimates that it will distribute approximately 12,000 backpacks to needy children through UJA-Federation’s network of nonprofit partners, schools and local organizations.
Since its inception, the Supplies for Success program has provided more than 57,000 filled backpacks, working to ensure that children in need on Long Island and the metro-NY area return to school with the tools they need to succeed.
For 100 years, UJA-Federation has inspired New Yorkers to act on their values and invest in our community for the biggest impact. Through UJA-Federation, more than 50,000 donors address issues that matter most to them, pooling their resources to care for Jews everywhere and New Yorkers of all backgrounds, respond to crises close to home and far away, and shape their Jewish future.
