Manor House on Private Island in Glen Cove Asks $125M

The privacy, views and Gold Coast opulence are second to none at this 46-acre private island that was recently listed for sale just off the coast of the City of Glen Cove.

Dosoris Island, also known as Salutation Island, includes a 12-bedroom, 27,000-square-foot Manor House with 12 bathrooms replete with extraordinary craftsmanship, an eight-stall stable, plus five additional residences that include a guest house, carriage house and groomsman’s cottage. The main house was built in 1919 by the son of JP Morgan.

Among the long list of amenities are a helipad, in-ground pool, deck, terrace, 250-foot dock, a 700-foot sea wall, a beautiful sandy beach and more than 10 acres of underwater rights to surrounding valuable fishing and clamming areas. It also comes with a neighboring 28-acre pond that flows into the Long Island Sound.

The land was originally granted by King George I and purchased by Peter Caverly in 1721 for 200 pounds, according to the listing which describes the offering as “a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

The island is nearby downtown Glen Cove, about a mile from the Glen Cove Long Island Rail Road station and is minutes from local country clubs and park preserves. It’s in the Glen Cove School District.

The asking price is $125,000,000.
