Scout collects materials for animal shelter
For several years, Pets4Luv has helped cats and dogs find their forever homes. But the Westbury-based nonprofit animal rescue wouldn’t be able to help rehabilitate and re-home the hundreds of animals that have come through their doors without the help of generous volunteers, including Frankie Bove.
The Hicksville resident has been helping out at Pets4Luv for several months, and decided his love for animals would take center stage as he began working towards his Eagle Scout rank, the highest award in Boy Scouting.
“One of my Eagle Scout requirements is to plan and do a project that will benefit the community,” said Bove. “Through volunteering and rescuing, I became aware of how many homeless animals there are in our community.”
For his Eagle Scout Project, Bove is building new tables and benches for the cats, as well as doing a drive for the shelter. As part of his project, “No Paws Left Behind,” he is collecting food and supplies, including toys and cleaning supplies, at the shelter. Those who wish to help can drop off any donation at the Pets4Luv Foundation, located at the Source Mall, 1504 Old Country Rd., Westbury, and mention Bove’s name when dropping off.
