New York Unemployment Rates Rise

The NYS Department of Labor released a preliminary Local area unemployment rates for February 2018. The rates are calculated using methods prescribed by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. NYS unemployment rates rely on the results of the Current Population Survey, which contacts 3,100 households in NY each month.

In the Nassau-Suffolk region unemployment increased from 4.8 in 2017 to 5.1 percent in 2018.
