In response to New York Blood Center’s emergency appeal for blood donors, the Great Neck Library and LI Blood Services will hold a Community Blood Drive on Thursday, Feb. 28, from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Main Library community room at 159 Bayview Ave.
Give the gift of life. Donors can help meet the daily transfusion needs of cancer and surgery patients, accident and burn victims, newborns and mothers delivering babies, AIDS and sickle cell anemia patients and others.
To donate, bring a donor card or ID with a photo and signature. Donors can be between 16 and 75 years old, though 16 year olds need parental consent and those 76 and older need a doctor’s note. The minimum weight is 110 pounds. Donors cannot have gotten a tattoo within the past 12 months. Be sure to eat well and drink fluids before donating.
