Students at Paul D. Schreiber Senior High School in Port Washington recently painted a mural to promote anti-bullying and acceptance.

The National Art Honor Society worked with the school’s No Place For Hate Committee to create the mural after Nicole Thomas, the school’s art department head, won an arts grant for supplies to make the project possible.

“Our school has been named a recipient for the last three years and this year we will be awarded a banner for the forth year,” said Thomas.

The grant was awarded by HEARTS, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting, promoting, and enriching the arts in Port Washington. As a result, the art supplies were provided by Alper’s True Value Hardware in Port Washington.

The school’s No Place For Hate Committee is a part of a nationwide Anti-Defamation League program that encourages anti-bullying campaigns in high schools.
