The annual Chocolate Expo brought out thousands of fans to the Cradle of Aviation in Garden City on March 1 to indulge in great chocolates, baked goods, specialty foods, cheeses, wines, spirits, ciders, craft sodas and more from almost 100 vendors, with some coming from as far away as Honduras and Ecuador.
The event also featured a “New England Pavilion” with vendors from Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, plus the first-ever Long Island Honey Market with hundreds of local, regional, and international honeys and honey products.
Long Island’s own DJ CHEF, a Cutthroat Kitchen winner who DJs and cooks, led The Chocolate Expo’s “Hangar 2 Dance Party” with almost 30 authentically costumed Star Wars characters from the 501st Empire City Garrison.
Guests also got to compete in the “Chocolate Challenge,” a reality TV-style cooking competition, as well as to participate in a “Chocolate Spa Experience” and listen to a “Chocolate and Brain Health” presentation by world-renowned neurologist and author Dr. Jay Lombard.
Free showings of the movie Apollo 11: First Steps were also included for guests at no charge, as were free face painting, balloon twisting and chocolate craft activities in The Chocolate Expo’s “Kidz Zone.”
Nearly perfect weather contributed to the festive atmosphere at The Chocolate Expo, and a great day was had by all.
