Cats and Dogs for Adoption on Long Island

adoption

What’s better than changing the life of a senior animal? Saving two! This week we’re featuring a few dynamic duos just waiting for the chance to find their forever home. Prefer the company of just one? Well, we have those too!

Available for adoption at the Town of Smithtown Animal Shelter

Delilah
Delilah and Samson

**Senior Alert and Double Adoption** Samson is an 8-year-old Boxer Pit Mix, and his lady friend Delilah is a 10-year-old Pit Mix. These two loves were found abandoned in a park after their previous owner sadly passed away. Samson and Delilah absolutely adore each other, and would love to find a furrever home together, but they can be separated if need be. Both of these mushes love people and are very friendly and gentle. Delilah has chronic dry eye and skin allergies and will require a home that can properly manage this. She has a dominant personality, and does not accept other dogs, with the exception of Samson who she gets along well with. Samson and Delilah deserve a wonderful home that they can share their love with forever and ever.

Angel
Angel

**Senior Alert** Angel is an 8-or-so-year-old female Blue Nosed Pit who has been a resident of the Town of Smithtown’s Animal Shelter for more than three years. She is an extremely goofy and smart gal who loves spending time with people. She is a big fan of playing outside, chewing on her bones and stuffed animals, and of course, food! Angel requires an owner who has experience with large dog breeds, and someone who can give her some structure and discipline while understanding her needs. She has a very dominant personality and would do best in a home without children or any other dogs and cats. After all this time in the animal shelter, Angel deserves nothing more than a furrever home that will love her endlessly.

Broccoli
Broccoli

Broccoli (Adoption #H208247) is good for you! When 4-year-old Broccoli lost his home, NSALA offered him a fresh start. This devoted best friend wants to make a lasting impression. You’ll find him belly up and bunny paws out waiting to receive a good, long chin scratch from you. Offer him your lap and cancel your plans for the day! Broccoli is used to being the solo pet in his home, so he’s looking for the kind of peace and quiet that comes from being the only furry friend. A quiet home with children older than six will give him the welcome he needs to settle in for success. He’ll be endlessly grateful and devoted to the one who chooses to make him part of their daily lives!

Ward
Ward

When 4-year-old Ward (Adoption #H209908) arrived at North Shore Animal League America, he was grieving deeply for the loss of his home and family. Staff tucked him into the quietest place available, with the most loving hands, experienced in helping fearful cats acclimate to the new setting. Time and patience were gifts Ward never received in his previous home. Beginning to trust those who care for him, Ward is enjoying life in the comfort of a predictable space, with feline friends modeling what’s in store if he’s brave enough to show a little curiosity. NSALA wants Ward to feel confident with his new family and are searching for adults with experience in nurturing the spirit of timid cats (please, no children under 16 years old.) Because he’s responded so well to his feline roommates, NSALA knows that a confident cat in the home will help him navigate all the joys of family life. Would you like to be Ward’s hero? You’re just one visit away from making him part of your heart.

Tutelo20and20Cayuga
Tutelo and Cayuga

**Senior Alert and Double Adoption** Tutelo (Adoption #BF2528) and Cayuga (Adoption #BF2529) are taking great comfort in each other’s company. After a rough start in a perilous situation, these 10-year-olds are ready to begin a fresh, new chapter in a quiet home with loving, experienced humans devoted to making every single moment of their lives comfortable. Offer them the tranquility of a household (please, only children ages 12 and older) and these sweet gentlemen require very little; in return, you receive gratitude for providing them what they’ve always deserved. You can begin your journey with Tutelo and Cayuga by offering treats and ear rubs; they’ll grab hold of your heart from the moment you assure them they’re safe.

Mary20Shelley
Mary Shelley

NSALA had no idea what kind of delights awaited us when a local rescuer brought Mary Shelley (Adoption #H211407) in for safety. This dazzling, dilute tortie kitten is filled with curiosity, and plenty of spunk to keep you interested! For such a petite, young thing, Mary sure knows how to make it clear how she feels about sharing her life with other cats—no thank you! This 6-month-old is so enchanting, you won’t mind having her all to yourself. Mary is going to fill all the empty spaces in your heart. If you have a home with children age eight and above, and experience with girls with tortitude, you’re going to be in for quite a treat!

Toast
Toast

If Toast (Adoption #R166606) is feeling a little travel-weary, it’s because he’s come a very long way to find safety in Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center—all the way from Hawaii! NSALA is going to help Toast feel better about our New York climate by providing him with lots of reassuring attention and space by a sunny window. A quiet home will go a long way to mending his spirit, and in no time, he’ll be loving east coast living.

If you’d like to meet or adopt any one of these adorable adoptables, please email [email protected] for more information or come down for a visit at their Port Washington campus.
