The U.S Navy Blue Angels will join the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach after a four-year hiatus from performing at the event.
Bethpage Federal Credit Union and the New York State Parks Department announced the lineup on Wednesday for the 18th annual air show to take place May 28 and 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Jones Beach. This will be the Blue Angels’ ninth appearance in the air show, which is held each year on Memorial Day weekend. Two New Yorkers will be on the jet team.
“We are very pleased to welcome the Blue Angels back to Long Island after their four-year absence and look forward to embracing the team’s two New York teammates,” said George Gorman, Long Island’s regional director for the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historical Preservation.
Joining the Blue Angels in the lineup will be a long list of both military flight teams and civilian performers, including the United States Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Navy F-35C Tac Demonstration Team, the world-famous Skytypers, the American Air Power Museum Warbirds, Long Island’s own David Windmiller, the SUNY Farmingdale State College Flying Rams, and more.
“Helping to organize the Bethpage Air Show is a labor of love for all of the show’s loyal fans and for the entire Long Island community,” said Linda Armyn, senior vice president of Bethpage Federal Credit Union, the show’s title sponsor. “Not only have we begun to count down the days leading up to the show, but many of the show’s spectacular performers have begun their countdowns as well, knowing how special it is to perform for Long Islanders over the waters of Jones Beach.”
The show is free, except for the $10 parking fee per car to visit Jones Beach.
