Shark Bites Smith Point Lifeguard

A shark bit a Smith Point County Park lifeguard on Sunday morning, prompting Suffolk County officials to temporarily halt swimming at that beach and neighboring Cupsogue Beach County Park in Westhampton Beach, officials said.

Possible Shark Bite at Jones Beach Reported

A 37-year-old man swimming in the Atlantic Ocean at Jones Beach State Park on Thursday afternoon suffered an injury consistent with a “possible shark bite,” Nassau County police said.
